'The Frangi' as it is affectionately known, is an integral part of the
history of the island of Bequia, and today it remains central to the
character of this enchanting island. Once the home of a sea captain,
the Frangipani lies in the heart of the island's capital, Port Elizabeth,
and the hotel sits proudly right on the waterfront overlooking the clear
blue waters of Admiralty Bay. Its comfortable rooms are on the hillside
behind the hotel and most have spectacular views of the bay. The Frangipani
has been run as a hotel for more than 40 years by the same family and
its waterfront bar and restaurant has been a popular meeting place
for locals and tourists for generations. The restaurant serves delicious
home–cooked food for breakfast, lunch and dinner – all to
be enjoyed while watching colourful boats drifting past just yards away.
All the shops, markets and other facilities of the town are just a couple
of minutes' stroll away along the waterfront. The 15 rooms offer a
variety of accommodation, ranging from simpler original rooms to the
luxury four–poster suites with air conditioning, with private terraces
overlooking the sea. There is something for everyone at this lovely,
traditional West Indian gem.
